I got this in today, Having tried to find all of the information available prior to buying. I was between this mower and the Black and Decker and the difference for me was the power on demand system to conserve energy. I figured that could be worth the difference in delivery time since I thought that feature would be handy.
I found an advertising video showing a lady pushing the mower along and turning a knob on the handle to make it louder and work harder on the tall grass. (this may have been the WG789 in retrospect)
Unfortunately the knob isn't on the handle, rather the knob is down on the mower deck in front of the battery. This seems like it would make it a much less usefull feature as you have to stop and lean over and adjust it, I guess this is visible in the bove picture but there are no labels or decals to highlight it.
UPDATE: This is really not inconvenient after all. It's only when changing to areas where it may be longer or wetter that you need the power feature and it's not that inconvenient to be on the deck.
The only other complaint is that the quick adjust for the handle works great when pushing the handle down, however if it is set in the high position (three settings available) and you lift up on the handle to move the rear wheels it can pop out and fold forward like it would for storage. This doesn't seem to be a problem in the low and medium setting. I can likely fix this myself and the ergonomics are very good. UPDATE: The initial reaction of the handle, to pop out when lifted on in high, went away after just fifteen minutes of use in the high position.
The mower is very easy to push and the larger rear wheels are nice for turning. I only tried the mower out in my lawn (raining out and wet) shortly and the lawn wasn't that tall. The cut is good and the mower is quiet, I didn't notice a lot of difference between "quiet" and "power" settings, but the grass wasn't very tall and I wasn't trying to cut it very short. UPDATE: the difference is there but most evident in tall wet grass.
I have about a .9 Acre yard and got this to do edges, areas where I couldn't get to with a mower and to use in a pinch. I will mow my lawn Saturday to determine how many square feet the battery and mower are actually good for, I will also post pictures.
UPDATE: June 4, pm
Jut got home to it having been a nice day and the lawn isn't too wet, damp for sure, but not too tall, so I took her out for a spin. Battery had been used* (*out of box) slightly last night and charged up fully overnight. I checked the battery very religiously and regularly. It was about 35-40 minutes when it went from 3 lights to 2, then about 35-40 more till it went from 2 lights to one. I ended doing about 110' stripes and checking the battery at the end of every run and it had Just dropped to 1 light, after about 2 minutes of not mowing it went back up to 2 lights, and it didn't noticably slow down, but I stopped before figuring I should have read the manual :P and don't want to mess up the SLA battery.
The charger does seem to be a decent piece of kit too.
I Cut the grass on the medium setting ~2-3.5", I am happy with how high this deck will go it seems like it is almost 6" which is nice for organic lawns as tall grass doesn't get as many weeds. Also the adjustment is easy and feels solid. I was cutting mostly from 2-4" of grass off so I wasn't making a big cut but I did a bunch of edges and clumps where I was cutting 6-12" of grass down and it ate right through without any hesitation!!!
I think it will do the whole yard when it's dry in the summer!!! Pushing this will keep me active, it is a bit cumbersome to turn, just a bit heavy mostly
The bagger seemed to work very well, although I only did a small 20'x60' "lawn" with the bagger, then mulched another 20'x60' more "lawn" and noted that I couldn't tell the difference between the bagged and mulched am happy. I still think the side discharge is the most efficient way to process the grass, so I proceeded to side discharge the rest of the yard. I think the side discharge seems to save energy. I mowed about 85% of the grass in my lot, including a lot of 12-16" tall clumps where the rider I've been using has been missing. I mowed back and forth and in as even of a grid as I could, switching between power and quiet as needed, this feature seems to really work and can extend mowing time, also not really that inconvenient located you only switch between runs so it works great. My lot is ~38,000 sq ft but I figured out that I have about ~22,000 sq ft grass/lawn, and have under 4000 left,
I believe that this mower actually just mowed a bit over 18,000 sq ft, on it's maiden voyage, NICE!!
It's an absolute delight when a product, not only meets expectations but, exceeds them!!

We bought this lawn mower after becoming fed up with our black and decker cordless electric. We bought it when we had a very small yard and it worked fine for what we had, It was a 24 volt. When we moved to a bigger yard with thicker grass it stalled in tall grass ( and sometimes for no reason at all) and didn't last for the entire lawn. We could never keep up with the grass because if it ever got slightly long after raining for a week or a short vacation it would take 3 - 4 charges (3 days) to catch up. In normal conditions it still took 2 charges to complete the lawn. We also had to drag the whole thing down the basement stairs to charge it because we have no power in the garage. This lawn mower is a 100% improvement over the black and decker. WIth the 36 volts it has much more power and cut right through a large area of foot long grass without draining the battery or the motor slowing, just like a gas mower. I think it is even quieter than our black and decker. We then had plenty of battery left to mow the rest of the grass with half a charge to spare. Our lawn is 1/4 acre. Because the battery is removable we could park it in the garage and take the battery in the basement to charge .. much much easier. I am very happy with this purchase. The only very mild complaint is that the shape is somewhat ackward & bigger than the last mower, but not so much it really causes a problem, just some getting used to.
4.) Does the job

Background: I've had a neuton ce6 for the past 2 years, and while it has its good attributes, it doesn't cut it for me and my yard. However I'd never go back to gas powered mowers.
I don't normally write reviews this quickly after receiving a product, so to give it some time to sink in. However I only received it yesterday, and mowed with it this morning. Upon assembling it, I noticed the same thing other reviews have pointed out, only worse, that the handle bars would pop up in any of the three positions while pulling up to lift the mower. It was obvious that the plate that receives the pin was bent or warped a considerable ways from where it belongs, and I just got out a set of large pliers and bent it back (it was somewhat difficult) to the point where it rubs on the handle bar slightly, and I had no futher problems with it poping up.
While charging the battery overnight, I did notice that the charger produces quite a bit of heat. One might want to make sure to keep the charger clear so that it can breathe.
I mulched my entire yard, which is probably somewhere around 8000 sq ft this morning and early afternoon. The entire yard was done in the quiet setting. The grass varied from thin to thick, but was mostly overly tall, its been two weeks since it was last mowed. It was also still damp in places. I had no trouble what so ever and the entire yard was done with a single charge, but I did mow on setting 5, which is quite tall, which is how I like it. The Neuton usually took 3 charges and constantly clogged with wet grass or on the clover which has a high moisture content. The grass did not even stick to the bottom of the Worx. The Neuton also did not adjust this high. Whether in power or quiet, this mower is pretty quiet, so much so than the Neuton, that I was pretty skeptical that the Worx was even going to cut the grass. Even in quiet, the Worx never seemed to bog down, regardless to how thick the grass got. Its so quiet that your neighbors are likely to think you are just pushing around a dead mower until they notice the grass is cut behind where you have been.
I do have general concerns to wear and tear, though the wheels look much more study than what I had on the neuton, my concern will be with the deck twisting and warping while managing the rough terain of my hillside property. At times the unit made a sound like the blade coming in contact with the side of the deck, but observation of the deck doesn't indicate this is possible, so it must have been something else.
Overall I am happy, hopefully never have to deal with customer service (the only good thing about the Neuton, customer service was A+), I would recommend this to others who were looking for this kind of mower.

Owned and used a Neuton Battery Powered mower for 8 yrs. So, no gas, ease of start, quiet, is not new. This Worx WG788 is substantially more powerful. No worries about wet or tall grass like I had with my Neuton. I also puts the battery life on my Neuton to shame. A Great Machine! Love it!

We have a 1/3 acre lot on a cul-de-sac. While the front yard is minimal, the backyard is shaped a little like home plate for a baseball diamond. With only a playground swingset, there is no landscaping except for the bermuda grass inside the fenced perimeter.
I used the mulching option on my first mowing, as the dry grass was anywhere from 2" to 7" tall. With the battery fully charged, I was able to mow both the front and back yards and the battery still displayed two LEDs left on the charge. I used a height adjustment of 2nd from the highest setting, leaving the grass about 4" high.
On my second mowing (about 3 weeks later, with some areas again about 6-7" tall), I was only able to mow about 1/2 the back yard's dry grass. with the exception of a 10'x10' area, I only used the QUIET selection for power usage. This time, I used the middle height selection, leaving the grass about 3" high. (I've just charged the battery overnight and will complete the mowing today.)
With headphones on (only loud enough so I could still hear planes flying overhead), I almost didn't notice that the mower stopped working. I looked down and saw the grass wasn't being cut. This mower emits about as much noise as a hair dryer; it's nowhere near as loud as my old gas mower. (I could probably mow my lawn @ 7am and neighbors wouldn't complain!)
It's extremely easy to use; insert the grey "key", pull the handle back, and press the grey starter button. The single lever near the rear left wheel allows for easy height adjustment. Since I used the mulching option each time, the bag is still brand new!
I used the WORX edger (lithium 151.5 model) on the fence perimeter (~415 linear feet) and under the playground's slide. Single charge got me through everything-- front and back.
Overall, I'm impressed with both mower and edger. I've already gotten rid of the gas mower and will be posting the gas edger on Craig's list soon.

This product was purchased a month ago and it is one of the best purchases I have made. As a single woman, I had looked for a lightweight, non-gasoline, lawnmower that was easy to use. The WORX 36-volt cordless mower fit the bill, so I ordered it. I was delighted to receive the mower as promised. It was easy to put together and took little time to prepare for use. The battery was easy to charge; I just plugged it into an electrical outlet and waited for the green lights to alert me that the battery was fully charged. My lawn is fairly small and I was thrilled when I cut the lawn for the first time, using this mower. It was simple to start and easy to maneuver. The mower cut right through the tall grass. Since the first time I have used the machine to mow the lawn, I have used it two more times without having to recharge the battery. I would highly recommend this mower.

IntelliCut is a TORQUE ON DEMAND system incorporating a dial where by the power to the blade is predicated on the height of the grass. I.e. for normal lawns (or when only 1 inch of turf is to be removed) you can choose STATUS 1 (Quiet Mode) which; acording to Worx is 20% less noise than any of its competitors, otherwise choose STATUS 2 (Power Mode) for dense or overgrown grass. I think this is a brilliant WHY WASTE POWER feature. Also 18,500 square foot on one charge is incredible, acing the opposition by a margin of roughly 3500 to 6500 square feet. However there is an issue with QUALITY CONTROL (Not Quality); which in its static state looks and feel very solid. Nevertheless a damaged (top half) of the contol handle was installed on my unit. And some of the decals are off-center (perfectionist), so 4-Stars. Not to mention the DECEPTION (and a lot of companies do it) of deck dimensions vs. the cutting width that is its a 19-inch deck but the blade (cutting width) is only 18-inches. Now the only thing left is use it for its intended purpose! Thus far it seems highly recommendable. Will update.

Hello,
I would like to say that I am quite impressed with my new Workx lawn mower. It's safety features are top notch, and it is very quiet to operate. I have about 1-1/2 acres of land at my log house in Alaska, and I am able to mow almost the entire lawn on a single charge.
I do have two issues of concern:
1. The mower was advertised as "new" on Amazon, however, the one I received was clearly NOT new, as it emerged from the box with several deep scratches, and signs of prior use. I went to my local Sears store, in order to compare mine, with the one they had on display, and theirs had none of the indication of wear that present on the one Amazon sent me. I contacted Amazon, and they gave me a price break. Although Amazon made good on this transaction, I am now very leery of doing business with them in the future.
2. I have tried multiple times to contact Workx, regarding a spare 36 volt battery for my mower. After several attempts, and countless wasted cellphone minutes, I finally gave up, and used the option to have them call me back within one business day. That was ten days ago, and still nothing back from Workx. I believe their customer service is totally lacking, and I would not recommend anybody buying their products, if you might need support. In the meantime, I am still looking for a spare 36 volt battery for my new mower, however, all I can seem to find online are 24 volt batteries. Perhaps, Workx will contact me prior to the cessation of my current battery, but I am not counting on it!

The mower arrived sooner than promised ! We have about a 1/3 acre lot, which has been mowed several times already. So the grass was not too tall. The Worx mower worked right out of the box-battery was charged and ready to go. However I put it on the charger anyway. Putting the few parts together was a snap. First time using it was very satisfying.Very quiet in both modes compared to my older gas mower. It cut very well. I raised and lowered the deck to try all heights, the lowest being too low for my yard, almost scraping in places. The mulcher and the rear bag work great. There are a few rattles-plastic lock handle for the mower handle seems to rattle a bit but that's bearable. Also, compared to the gas mower, the front wheels are too far forward, perhaps a future design might change that. This makes some corners in the yard and gardens unreachable by the mower and need to be cut with the weed-eater. Again a minor detail. It is not as heavy or hard to push, as some of the reviews indicated. It also lacks some of the suction that the gas mower has when picking up leaves and tiny branches while mowing. To me, thats a minor annoyance. So all in all I am extremely pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. I am curious about the longevity of the battery and some of the plastic parts, so time will tell.

I have a corded mower before purchasing this one. By comparison, the Worx wins in every respect. It is much quieter than the corded one but cuts just as well if not better than the other. The battery life is excellent. I have a 1/2 acre lot and my lawn is bermuda, and i finished cutting all the grass with some juice to spare. I didn't give a 5 star because the mulching function is just ok, there were clumps where the grass was overgrown.
14.) the future of mowing today
Reviewed by: skeptic

Imagine a world with no oil changes, no smelly gas that can go stale, no priming bulb, no filters to get clogged, no spark plugs that can go bad, no vapor lock, and no dirty carburetor. Are you picturing it, well I am living it every time I mow now. I have had nothing but bad luck with lawnmowers, including this past spring when I researched and purchased a cub cadet. It was a lemon and thankfully the place I purchased it from let me return it after failing 3 times in the first two months. So after years of dealing with all the problems above I decided to look into an electric option. I was so happy I did. Neighbors have commented on how quite this machine is, and that includes having it in power mode. I have a huge lawn stretched across 4 lots and I can get two mows in before I have to recharge on standard power. The power boost mode works great I only needed it the first time out because it had been a while since I mowed. I was worried about it not being self-propelled but it is so light (plastic everything) that it mows easily (the weight is all in the battery). I like the one lever height adjustment, and the easy adjust handle makes storing easy. My complaint with the handle (used for holding onto when mowing) is that it feels like it could break at any second but doesn't (and I don't think will) so that is not a real concern. I think that has to do with the easy adjust function I have never had on any mower in the past. I wish the power gauge was higher up and not on the battery itself, but it is not a problem unless you are running low on power. My other complaint is that occasionally it will leave an errant strand of grass I need to go back over, but honestly that is really knit picking and I cannot say I never had to do that with a gas mower. If you have the stress of dealing with dirty carburetors, stale gas, or vapor lock, like me I say the stress free mowing experience this provides is worth the extra cost. This machine is also very "green". Also, I have only used the mulcher so I cannot comment on the bagging option or side-discharge. I guess the big questions that remain are will there be service issues at some point and how long the battery lasts. This is an update: there are two things I don't like about this mower, one is that the blade is much smaller than the 19 inch deck (not a huge deal), and two and also most importantly how the front wheels are way forward from the deck. This creates a problem when it comes to mowing up against things like fences, walls, or any blockade, and you will need to use a trimmer in these places which I usually can mow with regular (gas) mowers. Personally, I don't understand why they placed the wheels so far forward, their is no mechanical reasoning for it, maybe it is a balance issue?
15.) Meets my expectations so far
Reviewed by: Chris80521

Only used twice at this point, but meets our expectations. We have about 1/4 acre of lawn, which I can mow on "power" mode with one fully-charged battery. I don't know what kind of grass we have, but it is a rather thin, stringy-like grass. That, combined with our rather meager watering schedule (we live in Colorado and water conservation is important to us) I can usually go about 10 days between mowing. At that point, the grass is between 4-8 inches tall depending on the area. This mower, operating on either "power" or "quiet" mode mulches this grass no problem. (I have also used the bagger just to try out and that worked well also). We also have 4 large trees in the backyard and this mower handles the small twigs no problem. Power-wise, I have not noticed any difference between this mower and any gas-powered mower.
That being said, I reiterate that I have a very thin lawn. Look for other reviews to see how it does with very thick turfgrass.
I give 4 stars (not 5) for the following two reasons. I have noticed that the cutting is not always perfectly even, with some blades of grass being left taller than others. This is noticeable up close, but less so from a distance. However this might be more a consequence of the grass-type and my lawn caring skills (leaving grass to grow too long) than the mower's mowing abilities (we just purchased the home and never used a gas mower on this lawn). My only other concern is the plastic body. Although it makes the mower very light, my backyard is somewhat rough and I am a bit concerned about the long-term durability. But that is simply my gut feeling right now, and have no evidence to support it. The plastic could prove to be more durable as it seems to "flex" over the bumps.
Overall I'm very happy with the mower and would definitely recommend it to others.

The blades could be sharper though. I used the higher setting and still had grass left after the cut. I am going to take the blades to get them sharpened and see if this takes care of the issue. I would recommend this mower for small yards. The battery lasts maybe an hour.

I purchased the cordless WORX lawnmower in June and by mid July it would not start anymore. The battery was fine, so I assume it is the engine. I tried to contact WORX via their email, but the reply stated something to the effect that due to high volume they were unable to respond to my email. So I called. And due to high volume I was prompted to leave my return phone number and they would respond by next business day. OK, so they did respond next business day. However their customer service was poor. I was responded to with quite a few "uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah". Very annoying for an engineer who knows the battery is charged and the item is defective. The nearest "authorized service representative" is 40 miles away and is only open the same hours I happen to work - you know 8-5, Monday-Friday. So as soon as I can take time off work, I will be loading the lawnmower into my car and taking the hour there, hour back trip. I was already forewarned there is a two week waiting period before they can get to my unit, even if I call ahead (first come, first serve). So I might get my lawnmower back by the end of summer. Good thing I kept my gas-powered lawnmower! So in summary, beware if you actually have an issue and have to deal with the warranty. Both the help desk and the authorized service representatives are not customer oriented. :-(
